It runs entirely in the browser and sends no data anywhere. Open source under the MIT licence. Published on the Chrome Web Store.

Format converter

Converts between image formats in the browser. Files pass temporarily through Sirv processing to generate the output, and are not kept.

How the numbers are produced

Where a guide gives a file size, a compression ratio, or a chart, the figure comes from an encode run on a stated image set rather than from a vendor claim. The method and the source images are named in the guide.

Browser support percentages come from published support data and move over time. Treat any percentage as correct at the date on the guide.

Limitations

• ImageGuide is a reference site, not a hosting service. It stores no user files.
• It covers still images and short video conversion. It is not a general video encoding resource.
• The saving figures reported by the Chrome extension are an estimate from a model, not a measurement of a real re-encode.
• Guides cover the open web. They do not cover print production or colour management for print.
• The site is published by Sirv and links to Sirv products where relevant. Guidance is written to apply whatever CDN or tooling you use.
